How to Practice a Body Scan:

  1. Find a comfortable and quiet space where you can lie down or sit comfortably.
  2. Close your eyes and start by bringing your attention to your breath. Notice the sensation of breathing in and breathing out.
  3. Begin the body scan by focusing on your toes. Notice any sensations, tension, or feelings in your toes. Slowly move your attention up through each body part.
  4. Continue scanning through your feet, legs, torso, arms, and all the way up to the top of your head.
  5. Whenever you notice any tension or discomfort, simply acknowledge it without trying to change it. Allow yourself to feel whatever arises with kindness and compassion.
  6. Finish the body scan by bringing your attention back to your breath. Take a few deep breaths and slowly open your eyes.
